Jira Migration Complete — Silence Projects Is Ready
Migrating from Jira to Silence Projects is simpler than you think. This guide walks you through the full process — from exporting your Jira data to running your first sprint in Silence.
Before you start
You’ll need:
- Jira admin access (for export)
- Silence admin access
- ~30 minutes
Step 1: Export from Jira
In Jira, go to Settings → System → Backup Manager. Download a full backup in XML format. This includes projects, issues, comments, and attachments.
Alternatively, use the Jira CSV export for individual projects: Board → Project settings → Export.
Step 2: Import into Silence
In Silence, navigate to Admin → Data Import → Jira. Upload your XML backup or CSV file. Silence maps Jira concepts to Silence equivalents automatically:
| Jira | Silence Projects |
|---|---|
| Epic | Epic |
| Story | Task |
| Bug | Bug |
| Sprint | Sprint |
| Component | Module tag |
Custom fields, labels, and assignees are preserved where a matching user exists in your Silence workspace.
Step 3: Review and adjust
After import, review your boards. You may want to:
- Adjust workflow statuses to match your team’s process
- Set up automations (e.g., notify on status change)
- Connect issues to your CRM deals or customer accounts
Step 4: Invite your team
Add your team members from Admin → Users. They’ll receive a welcome email with onboarding resources.
That’s it
Most teams are fully productive in Silence Projects within a single working day. The Jira muscle memory translates — boards, sprints, backlogs and filters all work the way you expect, just faster and without the per-seat bill.
